1) Keep your
Windows Operating System up to date by installing all
patches.
2) Use Anti-Virus Software with the latest virus
definitions.
3) Use Personal Firewall software such as Zone Alarm, North
Internet Security or the Free Firewall built into Windows
XP.
4) Remove Spyware and set Internet Explorer security
settings as recommended by Microsoft to help prevent Spyware
from entering your computer.

Turn off your DSL
modem for at least 2-3 minutes. Turn your modem back on and
wait another 2-3 minutes for it to sync-up. Reboot your
computer. Try connecting to the Internet again.

and Spyware before installing Service Pack 2. Failure to do so
can result in Service pack 2 not installing properly.
Service Pack 2 will not remove any
pre-existing Viruses or Spyware. All Viruses and Spyware must be
removed before installing Service Pack 2. Service Pack 2 can only
help prevent new infections.
